Cory Catfish Eat Shrimp

A pygmy cory catfish can also live alongside adult shrimp populations.

Otocinclus catfish tetras swordtails and of course other corys can be a good fit. These fish are non aggressive and show little interest in an adult shrimp as a food source. Plese note that it s not uncommon for cory catfish to ignore or only nibble on shrimp pellets especially if you don t soften them first. Cories and ghost shrimp are good tank mates together the baby shrimp may get eaten though.

Mind you this is a 4ft tank with heaps of high growing feathery weed with timber and hollow rocks so plenty of places for the shrimp to hide. Feeding pygmy cory is no biggy. Filter shrimp such as wood shrimps and snails such as nerite snails can all live peacefully together. They make a good option when you want to give your fish something different for a change.

Cory catfish tank mates can also include filter feeding shrimp such as bamboo shrimp and fan feeding shrimp like vampire shrimp. I have not kept other dwarf corydoras. Cherry shrimp and dwarf corydoras are great tankmates in my experience. However in some cases these fish have been known to eat shrimp babies particularly cherry shrimp babies.

Brine shrimp have excellent protein content especially baby brine shrimp. Cory catfish tank mates include most community tank fish as long as they are non aggressive and friendly in nature. They would love to eat live brine shrimp but they are not fast enough to hunt them. Corys can also live with other types of catfish such as ottos or plecs or some other types of an animal such as snails or shrimps.

Whereas in the aquarium you can feed them a wide variety of meals such as. In the wild they nibble on micro food available within their reach. Will cory cats eat cherry shrimp. They may not do so well in a smaller tank with less plant life.
