First check whether your venetian blind has any sticky stains. Make sure the blinds are perfectly extended in the tub and do not bend. Be sure to place a mat or towel underneath the blind to protect it from getting scratches and never immerse the headrail in water as this may damage the internal parts. To keep your blinds clean and your hard efforts last sweep or vacuum the blinds in your home on a regular basis.

To clean venetian blinds start by wiping away any noticeable debris with paper towels. Blinds made from aluminium pvc or a synthetic material can be given a clean with a mild detergent either in the bath or outdoors. Then carefully dry the louvres with a paper towel. Next starting at the center of each slat and working toward the edges run your fingers lightly over the slats with cotton gloves or dusting mitts.

Gently remove these using a mild detergent such as washing up liquid or window cleaning spray. If the blinds are plastic or metal and you want to leave them in place to clean them make a 50 50 solution of warm water and white vinegar in a bowl or bucket. Go for a delicate approach on wooden slats. Following the above method of cleaning from the centre of the blinds to the left and then from the centre of the blinds to the right will make the job as easy as possible.

Mix in a little mild dishwashing soap. If your venetian blinds have more buildup of dust and some oily residue then cleaning with soapy water is the way to fix it. If you want a more thorough clean you can wash your venetian blind in a bathtub.
